Making Your School and District Better 2023: Calling all New Leaders, School Leaders, and District Leaders - Aug. 30th, 2023 (8:30AM-12:30PM CST)

I would like to invite each of you to attend our opening Cohort Event for 2023/2024. Instead of opening with the “New Leaders” Cohort as we did last year, this year we are combining it with our other cohort groups (“Assistant Principal’s, Principal’s, Supervisors, and Assistant Superintendents”) and calling this event, “Making Your School and District Better 2023: Calling all New leaders, School Leaders, and District Leaders”.  We will be hearing from some wonderful individuals who will share how they work in their systems, how they have learned over time to help lead by example, with empathy, and with the end in mind.  Don’t worry, you will still have individual cohort groups and they will meet this fall too. This one is about learning from all cohorts of leaders, seeing how others ‘get better’ and looking at ways to use best practices to make your own school, system, or students even better! This idea came to me from a ‘new leader’ I worked with last year who said, “I wish my first meeting in New Leaders had given me the opportunity to connect with more seasoned leaders”. Well, here we go!

Join us for a day of leading and learning on August 30, 2023. I asked Angie Wills from Johnson County to share anything and all the things she felt could help build teams and create positive learning environments. Beverly Miller from Greeneville City will share on Cybersecurity during her session. Here is a brief description of what she will be presenting:

Public education organizations are now the number one target of cybercriminals. We are considered “data-rich and resource-poor”. Identifying personally identifiable information, understanding privacy laws, and protecting the identifies of employees and students has never been more critical. This one-hour session will help attendees understand the importance of good cyber hygiene and their role in protecting personal information and in preventing data breaches that could be costly to school districts and catastrophic to individuals.

We are still virtual, so you will "meet and greet" great leaders from across our state, and you will end the day hearing from one or more data analysis leaders who will share how they are reaching their TCAP goals, growing toward their goals, and even how they plan to begin to work to change their results this fall.
