Seeking: Communications & Program Support Specialist

The Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents (TOSS) is seeking a dynamic and skilled professional to join our team as a Communications & Program Support Specialist. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to advancing public education in Tennessee while supporting leadership programs for public education administrators across the state.

Position Overview:

As the Communications & Program Support Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and managing TOSS’s communications strategy, coordinating essential program activities, and providing administrative support to ensure the success of our professional learning initiatives. The ideal candidate will excel at crafting compelling communications, organizing virtual and in-person events, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships while staying informed to create and manage impactful digital and print communications, including presentations, information packets, newsletters, email lists, social media content, videos, and website updates.

  • Serve as a key contact for media inquiries and external communications while developing relationships with key media markets throughout the state to promote TOSS and members.

  • Promote and manage a consistent brand identity.

  • Assist with the planning and execution of TOSS’s Superintendent Leadership Institute (SLI) and Associate Leadership Institute (ALI).

  • Support leadership programs by coordinating event logistics, assisting with scheduling, and organizing virtual sessions via Zoom.

  • Maintain member databases and process registrations and payments for program participants involving detailed record keeping.

  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and other program directors as needed.

  • All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Education (or equivalent experience).

  • Strong writing, editing, and digital communication skills.

  • Experience in maintaining websites, and social media platforms is preferred.

  • Experience with virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom and project management tools.

  • Creative, with experience in graphic design using Adobe products and online platforms, such as Squarespace, Canva, Marq, Emma, and others.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail.

  • A self-starter who is able to remain engaged and productive without continual oversight.

Work Environment & Compensation:

  • Location: Primarily remote, with occasional in-office work required in our Nashville, TN office, presentations in the field, and off-site conferences.

  • Salary Range: $53,900 - $62,700, commensurate with experience.
