It seems something else is happening in America almost weekly that forces us to re-visit our safety and security plans. Because it is so important for new and seasoned administrators to have a good, workable plan, and to communicate that plan to all stakeholders, we are opening our 2023/2024 ALI TASL credit calendar (pending TDOE approval) with this event. We will look at the history and the statistics on school violence as it relates to facilities, sporting events, and planning. You will hear from Dr. Wanda Shelton as she reviews the need for working the plan you have with all your critical staff members, and you will learn from each other as you explore scenarios in whole group and in small group settings. We will share with you links to videos on internal threat assessment and we will learn together with scenarios on facility and event safety. You will walk through the Seven Steps for Leaders and Coaches for preparedness. You will also answer these questions with your peers, “Does your middle school football coach know your high school plan? Do your bus drivers know where to meet to relocate after an event crisis? Are you training your front office staff as completely as necessary? How are you helping your teachers and educational assistants create safe entry and exit plans during the school day?”
Join Dr. Shelton, Brandt McMillian with TOSS platinum partner, Life Check Systems, and some of your colleagues as they share their struggles and their successes in this area.
